On my desk

I realised today that apart from "on my desk" posts I haven´t been posting too much.

Well, it´s the usual reason: I´ve been working hard for a project for a group of architects here in Buenos Aires and at this point everything is under a secrecy blanket. It´s due for next week, so then i´ll be freer to do more illustration and those little papercuts I´m already missing by now.

At the same time, i´m enjoying hanging out with my parents. We flew to Ushuaia and it was great. Now they´re visiting the glaciers in Calafate, which I´ve been to in December.

I must say that the services provided to tourists in Argentina are not ideal, sometimes they´re even very far from it, but the landscape is so gorgeous that it´s totally worth to ignore everything else and come here (some photos on my other blog).

On another topic, I´m working on (sewing, hand-sewing: a labour of patience) a little something for my niece (for my parents to take when they fly back to Portugal next Sunday). It´s on my desk, on Wednesday.

Tenho estado bastante ausente e, à parte as minhas incursões às quartas-feiras com a rubrica "on my desk", não tenho estado muito presente aqui no blog.

As razões, já se sabe, são quase sempre as mesmas: visitas queridas e muito trabalho, daquele que não se pode mostrar, daquele de que não se pode falar porque é segredo. Ainda por cima, é um concurso e poderia estragar a vida a muita gente se falasse nisso...

A viagem a Ushuaia foi linda, linda. Os meus pais continuaram para Calafate, para verem os glaciares. Como eu e o Paulo já os visitámos em Dezembro (fotos no outro blog), voltámos logo para Buenos Aires.

Ai, o pior de um fim-de-semana prolongado é sempre o que acontece a seguir, que é encontrar a caixa de correio atafulhada e a pilha de trabalho acumulado na mesma proporção para desbastar.

Enfim, sobre a minha mesa de trabalho estão as coisas do costume, mais um pequenino presentinho que estou a costurar (à mão, eu seja santa!) para a minha sobrinha querida. É segredo, também... (imaginar aqui um sorrisinho a piscar o olho.)

Happy Easter | Boa Páscoa

I´ll be absent for a little longer: while everyone in the northern hemisphere is celebrating the arrival of Spring, we´re now officially entering Fall season.

Even more so because we´re flying out to Ushuaia, in Tierra del Fuego, where the american continent ends. Though it will be cold there, at least as cold as what my Winters are normally like, I´m so happy to go and see a new part of Argentina, this beautiful and huge country.

Tenho estado ausente deste blog devido não só ao volume de trabalho como também à presença de visitas muito queridas em terras austrais.

Amanhã voamos para Ushuaia, para mergulharmos a preceito no Outono que aqui, em Buenos Aires, é bem estival e ali, em Ushuaia, bem invernal (para os meus padrões).

On my desk... nothing!

I´m sorry to disappoint those of you readers who enjoy seeing pictures of desks, on Wednesday. Today there´s no photo from my desk, just this very short post to say that although I´m thinking of you I´m not staying long enough to take a picture and post it. My parents are visiting and we have some tourist work to do!

It´s a good reason for my absence, right?

There are some papercuts, my day planner, knitting needles and the usual stuff.

Hmmm... should I tidy up or should I work now? (preferably singing it along with "The Clash"´s tune...)

Back to school | Regresso às aulas

Well, "back to school" is a way of putting it. Really, I´m back to german class, after the summer break. I´m happy about it because somehow this incredibly logical language is like assembling a puzzle or solving a sudoku game. At least, that´s how I see it.

"Regresso às aulas"... de alemão! Não é propriamente um regresso à escola, mas sim um regresso às aulas de alemão. Estudar alemão é um desafio tão grande: a língua de Goethe não tem nada do intuitivo que (para mim) tem o português. Aliás, só aprendi gramática portuguesa quando tive de estudar a alemã...

Enfim, para celebrar o regresso ao estudo, aqui está a minha ilustração, também em papel cortado.

Here it is, my illustration for Illustration Friday this week´s topic: Garden.

It´s a papercut and it took me some hours to complete, along with a sore neck. But I´m very happy with the result!

Aqui está a minha ilustração para o tópico desta semana do Illustration Friday, que é "garden" (jardim).

É feito em papel cortado e levou-me hoooooras para terminar, tal como dores no pescoço e nas costas. Mas estou tão contente com o resultado que, definitivamente, os meios justificaram os fins. :)
