...a new project arrives and gets on top of the priority list.

It´s hot, hot, hot and my hands are sticky. So is my face. Wetting them only helps temporarily.

You can never organise too much

Phew! I´ve been working for hours - days!!! - on my website. I´m loading images on flickr and I just realise that you can keep on adding tags or descriptions or geographical positions ad infinitum. It´s definitely a great tool but one just has to stop at a certain point. It gets to be too much, specially if you´re loading dozens of photos of very different things at once.

It has great tools for organising, praise the guys who develop it, so my task is easier. But still, it´s been too long now. I wish for a bit away from the screen!

In the meantime, let me cross my fingers and hope to have my new website up and running ready by Jan 31st. You can still visit the old one, if you want.

Estou há horas - que digo horas, há dias!!! - a trabalhar no meu novo site. Neste momento carrego images no flickr e apercebo-me de que podemos continuar a acrescentar conteúdo, tags, datas, geo-referências, etc etc etc até ao infinito. O flickr é uma ferramenta fabulosa, não há qualquer dúvida, mas é preciso saber parar, sobretudo quando se está a carregar uma quantidade grande de imagens de coisas muito diferentes.

Neste momento, apenas desejo que apareça outro trabalho que me faça afastar um pouco do ecrã...

Enquanto o novo site não está terminado (espero que isso aconteça até ao dia 31 de Janeiro), o antigo pode ser visitado aqui.

Photo album | Álbum de fotografias

The two albums were Paulo´s idea, actually: we were trying to figure out what to give our mothers for Christmas and he suddenly realised that a photo album would be a great gift to them, considering how far we live and how many new places we´re visiting and the things we´re experiencing in this corner of the world.

From that idea to the one of reusing shop bags... well, it was kind of a small step! We also used japanese bookbinding technique, cutting the bags in a way so that we could use the creases on our advantage.

Reusing the bags was also a way of minimising waste: in Buenos Aires - as far as I know - is not a habit. Recycling containers are away from homes, unpractical to use and, at the same time, there´s no information on how the recycling process goes. And the bags are just too beautiful to put away.

Our mothers loved it. And my niece, who is almost 3 and absolutely loves handbags, loves to sport it around my parents´ place! :)

A ideia dos álbuns de fotografias como prenda de Natal para as mães foi do Paulo. Foi uma excelente ideia dado que estamos tão longe delas, a visitar tantos sítios novos e a ter novas experiências. Daí até usar sacos de compras foi um saltito. Cá em Buenos Aires o hábito da separação de resíduos para reciclagem não está enraizado. Os ecopontos são longe das casas, o que não ajuda à criação desse hábito. Além disso, nada se sabe sobre o processamento dos resíduos separados. Por essa razão, usar os sacos de compras teve ainda mais significado. Além disso, os sacos são lindos!

As mães adoraram o presente. E a minha sobrinha, que ainda não fez os 3 anos, já adora tudo o que seja malinhas e gosta especialmente de pôr o álbum da avó ao ombro e passeá-lo pela casa dos meus pais. :)

Tortuosos são os caminhos da mente

This is a watercolour I made for a friend. She is a psychologist and it is meant to be hung on a wall in her clinic. The title, in portuguese, means "mind´s ways are tortuous".

Back to Buenos Aires | De regresso a Buenos Aires

Now that I´m back to Buenos Aires and have regular internet access I can start getting back to my usual work routine and, of course, I can now upload images of some of the Christmas presents I made.

My weeks in Portugal were spent running around Lisbon meeting clients, friends and just being with my family - with the highlight of picking my niece up from school.

Now that I recharged my batteries for family and friends´ love, it´s now time to actually sleep, rest and work.

So, let´s get to it!

Agora que estou de volta a Buenos Aires e já tenho um acesso regular à internet, posso finalmente voltar à minha rotina de trabalho e, já agora, publicar aqui algumas imagens dos presentes de Natal feitos por mim.

As semanas em Portugal foram de intensa actividade social e profissional, correndo entre visitas a amigos e reuniões com clientes. E, claro está, num intenso namoro com a minha sobrinha linda, sobretudo quando a fui buscar à escolinha e ela olhava do cimo das escadas e, ao descobrir que eu lá estava, me fazia um enorme sorriso. (suspiro)

Regressada a Buenos Aires e com uma dose extra de mimos de família e amigos, é tempo de dormir, descansar e trabalhar.

Vamos a isso!

In 2008

I´m currently writing from Lisbon, from my Dad´s computer. I can´t get a connection with my machine, so some of the content I wished to upload will be postponed until I´m back to Buenos Aires again.

Holiday season was very nice, seeing everyone again and just enjoying being with family. I´ve received all the ornaments and they were all so nice! (The ornaments´ photos are one of the things I will upload some time soon - when I get an internet connection!)

I´m now working on two different illustrations and still trying out colours. Right now my inks and brushes are spread between two continents and suddenly I need something that is inside this box... back in Buenos Aires! Sometimes it gets to be frustrating...

Well, I hope your new year is going well and that it is feel of acomplishments (small and big), health, love and everything else.

Já em 2008 e já em Lisboa, escrevo a partir do computador do meu pai, dado que não consigo configurar a ligação à internet a partir do meu. Por isso, fotografias de trabalhos e dos enfeites de Natal (recebi-os todos e são fabulosos!) talvez só quando voltar a Buenos Aires.

De momento trabalho em duas ilustrações diferentes. Dou-me conta de que o meu material já está espalhado por dois continentes. Às vezes preciso de um determinado pincel e localizo-o claramente na minha cabeça... só que está em Buenos Aires. Por vezes torna-se frustrante!

Numa nota mais positiva, desejo a todos um óptimo ano de 2008, cheio de pequenas e grandes conquistas, muita saúde, sucesso e amor. E tudo o resto, claro.
