Enquanto pesquisava na net para o tema desta semana do Illustration Friday, encontrei aqui a seguinte frase (numa tradução minha): "...um cientista sozinho não cria uma teoria, só esboça uma hipótese."

Esta semana, um elogio ao trabalho em equipa e ao célebre duas cabeças pensam melhor que uma.

Mi Buenos Aires Querido

Day after day I´m growing to love this city even more. Should I talk about Buenos Aires? I don´t know, I mean, there´s so much to be said and there´s a strong chance that I might repeat myself with boring words like wonderful or vibrant.

Anyhow, there´s a bit of a tribute to one of my favourite spots in the city: the metallic flower, Floralis generica. Papercut, of course. :)

A cidade de Buenos Aires é absolutamente fantástica. Nem dá para falar dela sem usar a palavra fantástica, provavelmente mais do que cinco vezes na mesma frase. Portanto, nem vou entrar por aí e mostro apenas o recorte que fiz de um dos meus lugares preferidos por cá: é a flor metálica, Floralis generica. E é em papel recortado, dada o meu actual entusiasmo com esta técnica.

Paper cutting, again | De novo a cortar papel

I really liked the result of the other paper cut, so I decided to make one for myself. Of course I wasn´t paying as much attention as I was in the first run, so there are some differences.

Still, what you see here is the negative part of the cutting, or, better put, what wasn´t cut. I thought it was nice enough to deserve it´s own place in cyber-world.

Gostei tanto de fazer o outro recorte para a C que decidi fazer um para ficar cá em casa.

Como é lógico, prestei menos atenção enquanto cortava... daí algumas diferenças entre um e outro. Mesmo assim, o "negativo" ficou bastante bem conservado e decidi dar-lhe um lugar na blogosfera.

Ah! Esqueci-me de dizer que o verso do papel é amarelo. Trata-se de um papel de origami muito bonito: cada página tem sua cor. Estou a pensar pô-lo numa moldura daquelas que têm duas faces de vidro, ou seja, naquelas em que se vê a frente e as costas do que lá está. Se encontrar cá uma, claro.

Here´s a papercut I just finished to send to Portugal to my dear niece who was 3 last week. I used pink origami paper, instead of the "traditional" black paper. I find it girlier and happier as well!

A Czinha fez anos agora em Fevereiro e, para comemorar o seu terceiro aniversário, decidi fazer-lhe um quadrinho em papel cortado. É papel de origami cor de rosa, uma cor mais alegre que o preto habitual nestes trabalhos.

Knitting needle case | Bolsa para as agulhas de tricot

My knitting needle case is still work in progress but it was with great joy that I reversed it (or, better put, turned the inside face out) and realised it looks quite good. Well, it looks a lot better than I thought I was capable of.

I´ve never been a sewing person and my stitch was a bit messy. To some point, this needle case has been a good hands-on tutorial and practice for me: be patient and progress slowly, the two thoughts constantly on my mind while sewing.

Turning the inside face out has been a good surprise, something like when you open the oven to retrieve some clay work, or some enamel painting. It´s a surprise that I could actually do something like that. I´m very pleased, though it isn´t finished yet.

Estou a fazer uma bolsa para as minhas agulhas de tricot, umas agulhas enormes que mais parecem uns espetos e que saem de todo e qualquer saco onde as guarde. Dentro da bolsinha vão ficar muito mais bonitas e arrumadas! :)

Nunca fui uma pessoa muito achegada às costuras, portanto esta bolsa tem sido para mim um valente estágio. Hoje, ao virar o interior para fora (ainda a estou a coser) para a fotografar, foi com algum espanto e muita alegria que constatei que está com muito melhor aspecto do que eu jamais julgaria ser capaz. É verdade, nunca pensei que conseguisse coser algo minimamente bem... E por isso estou feliz por estar a ter a paciência de coser tudo à mão, com muita calma e paciência. Não será uma obra-prima, mas é certamente a minha obra-prima (primeira, pelo menos!).

Gosto muito de papel cortado (rendilhado?) e até já tentei a minha sorte (e paciência) para a troca de enfeites de Natal de 2007 (a minha tentativa está aqui). Por isso, foi com muita alegria que encontrei este post fantástico sobre o assunto. Vão ver. Vão. Agora.

Birthday in the summer for the first time ever | Aniversário no Verão, pela primeira vez

Friday was my birthday, and, for the first time in my life, during summer. So many new things then: wearing summer clothes and having long daylight hours, having a drink by the pool and then a whole weekend of sunbathing and long walks. Having no birthday cake, but still blowing a candle and receiving most of my happy birthday wishes by skype. Now that was new!

Let´s see what the new year has in store for me...

Na sexta-feira celebrei o meu aniversário: pela primeira vez, no Verão. E com o Verão vêm as temperaturas amenas, ainda que alguns chuviscos. Pela primeira vez na vida, tive luz diurna até tarde, bebi chá à beira de uma piscina e completei o fim-de-semana com banhos de sol e longos passeios a pé. E, pela primeira vez, recebi a maior parte dos telefonemas de parabéns por skype. Isto, sim, é novidade!

A ver vamos o que me reserva o novo ano...

My knitting fever produced some fruits | Onde se vê o primeiro fruto da febre do tricot

Inspite of the hot weather we´re having, I managed to finish (and photograph!!) my very own version of Pepperknit´s Bainbridge Scarf.

I had a huge amount of work due on Monday morning, so I spent the rest of the day working on something that would both relax me and give me the pleasure of finishing something. Here it is!

It´s Pepperknit´s Bainbridge Scarf, knit with unknown yarn and needles marked 7.

Plus: I´m happy to have joined Ravelry, of course, and Ravelry´s groups "Tuga´s knitters" and "Artesanas Argentinas". I really need some on-hands advice and instructions, I think!

Apesar do tempo quente, consegui terminar (e fotografar!!) o meu primeiro cachecol do meu novo período de "tricotadeira". Aprendi em menina, depois deixei para outra altura e, agora, voltei a tricotar.

Baseia-se no modelo "Bainbridge Scarf", que se encontra no blog Pepperknit. Não sei que linha usei, mas as agulhas são 7. Claro que o modelo sofreu diversas modificações, sobretudo pela minha ignorância.

Para finalizar: aderi ao Ravelry e juntei-me a dois grupos, o "Tuga´s knitting" e o "Artesanas Argentinas". Estou a precisar de instruções dadas presencialmente, o que, infelizmente, a minha professora predilecta não pode fazer.
